Forgotten Teddy Bear

Watercolor

This painting depicts a usually colorful and happy teddy bear forgotten in a dark and dingy attic, reminding us of our fleeting childhood.

Burdens

"What do you carry?"

We all carry burdens, but if we don't unload them, it becomes a lot to bare. Here, these burdens are depicted as stones with phrases like, "It's not you, it's me," "Your mom and I are getting divorced," "Ew, did you see what she did?"

Mystery, Magic, and Royalty

Infinity Color-Meaning Piece

In this project, we were suppose to pick a color, dive into color theory and show what this color means, then create multiple items that depict the colors meaning and make it look like it could go on forever.

Falling into an infinite black whole are nine purple cut outs depicting Mystery, Magic, and Royalty. These items include a magnifying glass with a wide eye behind it, a genies lamp, a rabbit pipping out of a magicians hat, cape, masquerade mask, crown, moon with clouds, a planet, and a genie.

"Inside my Head"

Have you ever felt like no one understood you? Like something was happening to you just beneath the surface that no one would be able to see or grasp? Like you wish you could just show someone what was happening inside your head so they'd understand. This is how many people with mental disabilities feel every day. One in five American adults experiences some kind of mental illness. Over the span of a year, after many interviews and personal experiences, I painted a collection of pieces portraying the experiences and feelings of someone living with a specific mental disability or disorder.

May these pieces pay tribute to those who live with a hidden disability and may they help them express how they feel when words fail them.
